According to a report by Deadline, Ronda Rousey has agreed to turn her memoirs into a biopic for Netflix. This project marks her debut as a screenwriter, though she will not be acting in it.
The film will cover her latest memoir, “Our Fight,” as well as her 2015 memoir, “My Fight/Your Fight,” both of which she co-wrote with her sister Maria Burns-Ortiz. Rousey was determined to be the scriptwriter for this film. She even interned in the story department at William Morris Endeavor (WME) to prepare for the task. Insiders say that when the script was presented to Netflix, the front page was removed to avoid any preconceived bias, revealing Rousey as the writer only after the script was read. Previously, Paramount owned the rights to adapt her first memoir, but those rights lapsed after several regime changes at the studio. There is no update yet on the production status of the upcoming Netflix project.
In her memoir, Rousey expressed criticism of WWE figures like Vince McMahon, Bruce Prichard, and John Laurinaitis, despite their efforts to promote her. Unless there are significant changes within the company, she has no plans to return to WWE. With her WWE days seemingly behind her, Ronda Rousey is forging a new path in the entertainment industry.
