Shah Rukh Khan’s film Pathaan is making waves and breaking records. Recently released on over 3,000 screens in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), it has achieved the biggest opening day for an Indian film dubbed Russian. According to Box Office Worldwide, the movie saw about 2,000 admissions from 370 locations on its first day. It has strong bookings for the weekend, and expectations are high for a significant total. The original version of Pathaan had a ₽1.6M ($25K) opening day on 50 locations on January 25th. For comparison, Baahubali 2 earned ₽430K on its opening day and ₽5.2M in its lifetime run.
Pathaan, released in January this year, marked Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the big screen after his 2018 movie Zero. The film, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, received an overwhelming response, earning over Rs 1000 crores at the box office. Next, Shah Rukh Khan will appear in Jawan, a highly anticipated film already generating a lot of buzz.
