The creators of 2023’s biggest hit, Pathaan, are preparing for its sequel. Reports confirm that Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone will reunite for Pathaan 2, which will pave the way for SRK’s next film, Tiger vs Pathaan, featuring Salman Khan. According to a source from Pinkvilla, Yash Raj Films’ Aditya Chopra has finalized the script for Pathaan 2. This sequel will be set before the events of Tiger vs Pathaan.
The source explained, “Pathaan 2 will set the stage for the epic clash between two cinematic legends. Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of Pathaan has been a hit with audiences, who are eager to see more of him in this spy role. After the success of the first film in January 2023, Adi and SRK decided to develop Pathaan into its own franchise within the Spy Universe, leading to the planning of this sequel.” The source also mentioned that filming for Pathaan 2 is expected to begin by the end of this year. “Pathaan 2 is being crafted as a key spy film that will build up to an even bigger conflict in the YRF Spy Universe. It will set the foundation for the upcoming showdown between Tiger and Pathaan,” the source added.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan became one of the most successful films in YRF’s Spy Universe, earning an impressive Rs 1,050.30 crore globally. It featured Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, with a cameo by Salman Khan’s character, Tiger. Similarly, SRK’s Pathaan made a guest appearance in Tiger 3. Following Pathaan 2, the two Khans will star together in the highly anticipated Tiger vs Pathaan. It’s still unclear if Siddharth Anand will direct Pathaan 2, but fans can look forward to more thrilling adventures in the Spy Universe.
