Scarlett Johansson said she ‘blacked out’ when she heard Colin Jost’s ‘SNL’ joke about her body

Scarlett Johansson revealed she “blacked out” upon seeing her own photo during her husband Colin Jost’s annual joke swap segment on “Saturday Night Live” last month. Speaking with Kelly Clarkson on her talk show, Johansson, who is usually the target of at least one joke during that segment each year, said, “That’s like a tame version if you guys have ever seen the jokes.” She continued, “As soon as they showed my picture, I actually don’t remember that segment. I fully blacked out.” Johansson shared her thoughts on Jost’s crude joke about her body, which he made during the Season 49 finale of “SNL.”

During the episode, Jost and his “Weekend Update” co-host Michael Che performed their annual joke swap, where they write offensive jokes for each other to say live. Jost began with an anxious laugh, “ChatGPT has released a new voice assistant feature inspired by Scarlett Johansson’s AI character in ‘Her,’ which I’ve never bothered to watch because without that body, what’s the point of listening?” His joke shocked the audience. Johansson described the joke as “a tame version,” admitting she “fully blacked out” during the cringeworthy moment. She further lamented the segment, telling Clarkson, “It is brutal, I feel like every year it gets worse.”

She expressed her fear, saying, “We need to, like, go into witness protection that night. Like, I am absolutely terrified we’re gonna be like, targeted. It’s so bad.” This isn’t the first time Jost has publicly cracked jokes at his wife’s expense. During their Christmas joke swap last December, Jost performed one of Che’s written jokes, poking fun at Johansson by comparing her to a highly regarded civil rights icon. In the joke, Jost mentioned a recent New York law allowing alcohol to be served in movie theatres, saying it was the only thing that made him enjoy Johansson’s “little art movies.” He then issued a fake apology, also written by Che: “I’m kidding, honey. I love all of your movies. And if you ask me, you’re an even better Black Widow than Coretta Scott King.”
